THE EYE OF GOD

Set in the author's ancestral Tyrol, Austria, Bemelmans' accommodates in one story the life of the honest people that he loves and the antics of the hotel crowd, both above stairs and below. It is the happy combination of the touching and the absurd that gives this novel, even more than his others, its' special Bemelmans' flavor.

Ludwig Bemelmans (April 27, 1898 - October 1, 1962) was an Austrian/American writer and illustrator of the celebrated Madeline series of children's books, as well as many adult novels.
