From an indie Brooklyn-based artisan, this series of ceramic vessels won our heart at first glance. In our mind, they won best of show at a recent trade event where we first discovered the artist and her work.
With their geometric forms, shadow play, roughhewn surfaces and matte/gloss glazes, the vessels are like diamonds in the rough. The white lava shadow vases are crafted in stoneware with one half of the surface in a smooth finish and the other half in a lava glaze covered with tiny craters. A triangular shadow dominates one side of the vessel.
