Henri Matisse was acknowledged as one of the greatest painters of all time. The last four years of his life he ceased painting and turned instead to paper cut-outs. These were independent works as well as maquettes for projects in other mediums. This book is the first major study of the cut-outs and one of the few major historical works on Matisse.
