Weaving together tradition with innovation these grass placemats are handmade by rural artisans in Swaziland.  Using a technique called plaiting, natural and eco-friendly dyed fibers, called lutindzi, are braided into long strands.  These plaits are then woven, coiled, shaped and sewn together creating these beautiful placemats.

Note: Lutindzi is sourced directly from the mountains of Swaziland. It is sustainably harvested by cutting above the root and is proven to be waterproof and stain-resistant due to its strong, waxy finish.
