These modernist dessert plates are part of the Coins collection by Rosenthal. The plates were designed in the mid-1950's by Raymond Loewy for Continental China, a division of the German ceramics company Rosenthal. Loewy was a French-born American industrial designer who achieved significant fame in the automotive and aviation industries. He also developed tableware for Rosenthal, including the Coins collection with its signature gold and silver spiral circles.
